◆Neural encoding of reward prediction is unclear compared to the encoding of sensory inputs or action selection.
◆We found that the cerebral cortex of mice locally represents the sensory inputs and choices, while it globally represents the reward prediction.
◆Improper prediction of rewards or conditions may lead to visual, auditory and other hallucinations. We believe that this study contributes to understand the mechanism of mental disorders related to prediction.
