  • Cryo-EM structures of “Guardian of the genome” p53 complexed with nucleosome have been determined.
  • The p53 binding induces the nucleosomal linker DNA release from the histone core.
  • The structures of the p53-nucleosome complex provide significant insight into drug development for tumorigenesis, as many cancer bear alterations of the DNA sequence recognition by p53.
