  • We succeeded for the first time in determining the nucleosome structure of the human parasite Giardia lamblia (G. lamblia) using cryo-electron microscopy analysis.
  • We found that the DNA ends of the G. lamblia nucleosome are flexible and that the acidic patch on the G. lamblia nucleosome is substantially different from those of higher eukaryotes.
  • Giardia lamblia is one of the most infectious pathogenic parasites in the world, and this study is expected to provide important insights for structure-informed drug development.
