- We developed a novel method to reconstruct gene co-expression networks from single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data. The proposed methods capture codependency and mutual exclusivity of expression patterns between all gene pairs from the sparse scRNA-seq dataset.
- We applied the proposed methods to glioblastoma stem cells and identified multiple candidates of tumor marker genes that could not be found by conventional methods.
- The method can be used for any kind of tissue and tumor to explore new marker genes involved in scRNA-seq data.
