Key Points of Our Findings
◆ We discovered a mechanism that properly regulates the size of DNA loops on chromosomes during cell division. When this mechanism is disrupted, chromosomes fail to separate smoothly.
◆ We revealed that the size of DNA loops is determined by the interaction strength between two key factors: cohesin and Scc2.
◆ Our findings improve the understanding of cancer and genetic disorders that are linked to chromosome segregation errors.
